Nokia steps up with Symbian S^4

International Business  Times, 16 Jan 2010

Nokia completely redesigned mobile OS, Symbian S^4, a year after its acquisition of Symbian Software. Symbian S^4 OS aim to be on a par with Apple and RIM in smartphone UI.

Nokia released a document describing new features to be presented by the OS that are common with rival platforms. The most notable of these features include the clean new look and move ability of the home screen (similar to the Android), a lack of exit commands comparable to Palm's webOS and a customizable application library reminiscent of the iPhone.

Nokia N97 and N97 Mini users who possess branded handsets that have not yet received the awaited 21 Firmware upgrade can sleep a little easier tonight with the release of Ramblow 1.0, a memory management and maintenance application just released.  Don't get me wrong.  This app is great for any phone, but particularly useful for anyone running a newish device with young firmware that still has bugs, memory leaks, and memory optimization yet to be done by the manufacturer.
